Molovinsky for Mayor. Allentown, Pennsylvania. Politics in Allentown
Save Our Sity
Allentown is adrift in a sea of calamity. People talk of a sinking ship, a former Queen City going down the tubes. I know that the strength and history of our various neighborhoods can overcome this despair and misdirection.
We must recover from being the victim of Political Correctness . We can no longer tolerate being a poverty magnet. The taxes and grants, both state and federal, must be used as orginially intended; for the city’s infrastructure.
Our current social programs are morally commendable, but unfair to the taxpayer. Social agencies should receive our gratitude, not our taxes. We will no longer strive to win the national HUD award for making low-income homeowners. We will no longer strive to be the third largest city in Pa., necessitating a high rise prison.
I will end the arrogance of City Hall. No longer will your taxes be spent buying building after building, offering tax free zones and grants; paying for consultants and plans, presentations, and concepts. A mayor's personal field of dreams will no longer be built with taxpayer money.
The city will be kept clean. Repairs will be made as needed; and public safety will mean police patrolmen, not multiple assistant chiefs attending national conferences.
Until such time as we begin to regain our former quality of life, the least we can offer our taxpayers is a freeze on their tax rate. We will roll up our sleeves, we will hand out brooms instead of grants, and regain our pride!
Please join me on this mission.

July 25 Update (Letter to The Morning Call)
Sunday's article on the historic district illustrates how tortured our officials are in addressing our real problems. If one strips away all the political correctness, it seems our yuppies in Old Allentown don't appreciate living next to "riffraff". Although the plan may provide an expensive solution to that problem, unless they build a wall and gate, the culture clash passing through the streets will still prevent them from achieving the lifestyle they desire. I'm afraid the only thing Pawlowski will accomplish is rewarding the neglectful landlords and enriching those with connections to the programs' administrators. Doing the math, the yuppie bailout plan costs $325,000 per building, well over double the actual value. The claim that the project will cost the taxpayers nothing is misleading. Those grants, funded by our state and federal taxes, could be used for more useful city wide projects. I applaud our upscale urban dwellers who purchased homes in Old Allentown, but I do not wish to pay for their buyers remorse.

"Molovinsky for Mayor" is a figure of speech and a platform for political change. I am not, at this time, a candidate for mayor of Allentown.
